SpecScout is a web app and an API. In the web app, you search one product at a time. Through the REST interface, you retrieve the data as JSON, so SpecScout works with any system that can call a REST API, including automation tools such as Zapier, n8n, or Microsoft Power Platform. As a pilot customer, you also have the option to request an integration solution tailored to your system.

In principle, yes. SpecScout can be used to fully automate product data management. Optionally, critical fields can be manually checked or approved before publication. We recommend a brief manual check, especially for products that come in several variants, e.g., different storage options for the same smartphone model.

The best filter software is useless if the data basis is incomplete or inconsistent (e.g., mix of mm, cm, inch, etc.). SpecScout delivers the necessary attributes without gaps and in a standardized format. This ensures that products are correctly assigned in search and category filters (faceted search) and do not fall through the cracks.

Yes. You define which attributes are relevant for your shop (e.g., RAM, storage, weight, battery capacity, etc.) and exactly how the data should be output. You can freely choose and define the specifications relevant to you.

It can happen with unusual specifications or poorly documented products that SpecScout finds no matching data. In this case, the specifications in question are transparently listed in our response under "not_found". (Docs)

Yes. Unlike large databases or similar, our algorithm is flexible and not limited to entries existing in a database.

The data comes from sources on the web, such as manufacturer pages, datasheets (PDF), and online shops. Every value needs at least two independent sources or one authoritative source such as the manufacturer, and comes with links to its sources.

SpecScout compares technical specifications from several sources. A value is only returned when at least two independent sources agree, or when an authoritative source such as the manufacturer confirms it; otherwise the specification is listed as "not found". Pages about a different model (for example the S24 Ultra when you search for the S24) are rejected. Every value comes with links to its sources, so you can check it.

AI can make mistakes, so SpecScout never relies on a single AI answer. A value is only returned when at least two independent sources agree, or when an authoritative source such as the manufacturer confirms it, and pages about a different model are rejected. Values that can't be confirmed come back as "not found" instead of a guess, and fixed value lists restrict the AI to the values you allow. Every value comes with links to its sources, so you can check it.

Your product lists are used only to run your searches. To do that, we pass product names and the web pages found to service providers for web search (Serper, Google) and for AI models (such as Groq, OpenRouter, and DeepInfra); most of them are based in the US. Detailed search records are kept for up to 90 days and hold the product and brand, but no user ID; after that, only daily totals remain. In the pilot phase, we also use data from failed searches to improve our algorithm and prevent similar errors in the future.
